Budgit hoists range in six rated load sizes up to three tons. They offer electrical power supplies and various lifting speeds. There are different model variations with budgit hoists. Like all overhead hoists, maintenance and care are essential in ensuring the safety of workers. Proper maintenance also increases the longevity of your hoist and its parts. When considering the different models of budgit hoists, the main factors are service classification, the suspension employed, and the type of load chain. The number of gear reductions used and the reeving of the load chain determine the size of the hoist.
- Two-reduction gearing is for 1/4 to 1/2 ton rated load hoists.
- Three-reduction gearing is for one to three-ton rated load hoists.
- The load chain of 1/4 to one-ton rated load hoists is single reeved.
- The load chain of two-ton rated load hoists is double reeved.
- The load chain of three-ton rated load hoists is triple reeved.
The load chains differ between roller chain, lifting medium, and link chain. A roller chain is a nickel steel chain, while the link chain is an electric welded link chain.
Some hoists are designed for use in high ambient temperatures, mildly corrosive atmospheres, and high-duty cycle operation. These are available in hook or lug suspension. The variations of the construction of these models from standard ones are:
- Aluminum castings are specially treated.
- The load chain is zinc-plated to resist corrosion.
- The aluminum parts exposed to the elements are prime painted with corrosion-resistant paint.
